about

Recorded in Bali, Batubulan, Indonesia at Sangar Narwastu, in the year 2019, using a whole Gong Kebyar ensemble date of fabrication 1990.

The "Ombak" samples are both paired Gamelan instruments (left and right, male and female) played together to create the unique "Ombak" (Wave) effect.

The simple samples, are just 1 instrument played by itself.

The scale of Gamelan Gong Kebyar (originally from the island of Bali), is formed by the notes DING, DONG, DENG, DUNG, DANG. It is a 5 note scale ("pelog"), and that's how the files are named.
Some instruments have 5 tones, while others have 10 (2 octaves).

The included single noted (and extras) instruments of the orchestra in this pack are:

Cenceng
Gong
Jegog (paired and alone)
Jublag (paired and alone)
Kantil (paired and alone)
Kemong
Kempli
Kempur
Kendang (big and small)
Pemade (paired and alone)
Reyong
Suling (big and small)
Trompong
Ugal

All instruments played and recorded by the ISI Denpasar student, the Argentinian musician Agustin Oscar Rissotti, except the Kendang and Reyong, played by the famous Batubulan Painter I Nyoman Darsane.

Eternal thanks to Jonathan and Tina, for opening such a glorious space as Sanggar Narwastu where hundreds of students have started their journey of learning Balinese Traditional Music.

I hope you enjoy this samples, which whom you can recreate the whole orchestra, and make loving, mindful and sacred compositions which will bring peace and tenderness to your hearts.
